The interim Kouga Sports Council (iKSC) was formed at a meeting at the Humansdorp Country Club on 15th November 2011. It has been given a mandate by the Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), and the Kouga Municipality (KM) to form a Kouga Sports Council (KSC) by end of March 2012.
The KSC is the interface between sports clubs and players, and funding bodies such as the KM and DSRAC. When the KSC is formed, all requests for sports funding, facilities development, coaching clinics and so on will be channeled through the KSC, and all allocations of sports funding and facilities will be made by and through the KSC. Government officials and potential sponsors wish to communicate with one trusted body which is fully representative of sports in a particular area, and that body will be the KSC.
The KSC must be as fully representative of all sports men and women in the Kouga area as possible. The job of this interim committee is to make sure that everyone with an interest in sport in Kouga is represented in the formation of this new body. The interim committee has agreed on the following structure for representation at the inaugural meeting of the KSC, and has prepared a draft constitution for the KSC. Both the structure and the constitution of the KSC will be voted on by the representatives at the inaugural meeting, although the meeting itself will be conducted in terms of this interim constitution.
